Throwing Competition strips competition back to its most instinctive form: stand at the line, feel the weight of a sandbag or soft ball in your hand, and release. Each ring on the scored target board carries its own point value, so precision beats brute force every time.
Multiple rule sets mean the game never gets stale. Race through a fixed number of throws to build the biggest total, play elimination rounds where only the top scorers advance, or switch to a timed blitz where every second counts as much as every throw. Whether it's a quick solo warm-up or a head-to-head final against a friend, the format can flex around your group.
The targets are designed to reward consistency — cluster your throws near the centre and the score compounds quickly, but a wild throw near the edge still keeps you in the game. It is the kind of experience that pulls you back for one more round even when you thought you were done.

Safety & suitability.
Throwing Competition is a physical activity involving projectiles. Follow the throwing-line rules and staff guidance to keep every round safe and fair for everyone.
- Stay behind the throwing line at all times — stepping over it during a live round is a safety hazard and will void the throw.
- Throw only toward the target boards; never sideways or backward, regardless of what the projectile hits.
- Wait for the all-clear signal before retrieving sandbags or balls from the target area.
- Mind your feet and toes — dropped sandbags are heavier than they look.
- If you have a shoulder, elbow or wrist injury, consult your doctor before participating — repetitive throwing can aggravate existing conditions.
- Children under 8 or under 120cm must be supervised by an adult throughout the activity; any minimum age is signposted at the zone entrance.

What is the difference between sandbags and soft balls?
Sandbags are heavier and deform slightly on release, giving a slower arc with more predictable landing. Soft balls are lighter and travel faster. Staff will let you try both before your first scored round if you want to get a feel for each.
How many throws do we get per round?
The number of throws per round depends on the rule set selected. Staff will confirm the format before play begins — it varies between total-score, elimination and timed-blitz modes.
Can we play as a group or is it only solo?
Both work. Throwing Competition supports head-to-head match-ups and small group competitions. Staff can set up an elimination bracket or a simple highest-score-wins format depending on how many people are playing.
Is there a minimum age for this activity?
Any minimum age is signposted at the zone entrance. Younger guests should be accompanied by an adult and should only use the lighter soft balls rather than the heavier sandbags.
Do I need to book in advance or can I just walk up?
Walk-ups are welcome when the lane is free. If you want to guarantee a slot — especially on weekends — we recommend booking as part of your overall PLAYON session in advance.
